While it's been spotted at Computex for a couple days now, we got our hands on an official picture of the new Shuttle XP19 widescreen touchscreen LCD display. We also dug up some spec bits for you: you're looking at a 19-inch Wa-Si TFT active matrix screen, 1680 x 1050 resolution, 5ms response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 170-degree viewing angles. Oh - and it all comes in a shiny metal case.

Now if I was building an automated home, I'd definitely think about using this thing.
Is it resistive or capacitive?
Noel @ Jun 7th 2008 8:34PM
um... its shiny...so irresistible? ;)
Rafer @ Jun 7th 2008 8:40PM
Hey Clak is the basis of that statement taken from evidence you heard about in those ridiculous Mac Vs. PC Ads?
jakem @ Jun 7th 2008 8:41PM
You're predictably boring Clak.
imacmatt09 @ Jun 7th 2008 8:48PM
Way to ruin a post clak. Here take this pic ummm have fun with it. Don't come back either.

Okay, so clak is resistive; what about this monitor?
Chris Macdonald @ Jun 7th 2008 9:25PM
DON'T ARGUE WITH CLAK EVERYONE!!! take a look at his history on here
Aguiluz @ Jun 7th 2008 9:30PM
I think clak has a double personality.
Some comments are great, some comments were pluggard fanboyism. :-(
Aguiluz @ Jun 7th 2008 9:36PM
clak @ Jun 7th 2008 8:36PM
"It's running Vista and Vista sucks. HARD."
Nope, it's a monitor. Last time I heard, monitors "run" whatever thay are connected to. Mac, Windows, Linux.....
Nomi @ Jun 7th 2008 10:29PM
Wait till Apple comes out with a touchscreen monitor and/or tablet, then clak will get an erection.
Aguiluz @ Jun 8th 2008 12:08AM
Nomi... WINS!
eyewire @ Jun 10th 2008 7:06AM
It's not a touch screen monitor, Just a regular 19" LCD monitor.
Please don't misleading the readers. And please check the source information caerfully before publishing in the future.
Darkroom @ Jun 8th 2008 10:10AM
apple finally released a touch screen iMac!!!!!
Jeff @ Jun 9th 2008 1:28AM
damnit.
clak gives everyone who ever even thought about owning an Apple product a bad name.
Why don't you just rename yourself to Artie MacStrawman?
waitasec... maybe he's like one of those people who PRETEND to be members of a group only to make members of that group look ridiculous...
Haikibutsu @ Jun 7th 2008 8:30PM
This looks very big and heavy, but not in the bad "this is too clunky" way.
Instead, this looks like if you dropped it 50 feet above a crowd of pedestrians, 4 people would be hospitalized, but the screen would remain intact.
In short, this looks sturdy,
Jim Vaugn @ Jun 7th 2008 8:31PM
Is is multitouch?
Noel @ Jun 7th 2008 8:33PM
thats something that is worth mentioning and since its not ima say def not!
Jim Vaugn @ Jun 7th 2008 9:08PM
I assumed the same however something about the photo and presentation made me think it would be multitouch.
ScooterDe @ Jun 9th 2008 6:36AM
presumably we will see more of these once Windows 7 is launched, and we all get itching for some touchy feely computing
imacmatt09 @ Jun 7th 2008 8:32PM
Me want. Does it have mac drivers?
Oh yeah... That was a serious question so please no fanboi battles...
Haikibutsu @ Jun 7th 2008 8:34PM
I know Macs support multitouch fingerpads, but do they support touchscreens at all too?
imacmatt09 @ Jun 7th 2008 8:38PM
Idk. Probably and if not I'm sure someone will write a driver for it.
Sintax @ Jun 7th 2008 8:56PM
What do you mean mac drivers? this thing isn't just a monitor its a full computer...
quiksilv3r @ Jun 7th 2008 8:48PM
I thought Macs didn't need drivers????
phanbouy @ Jun 7th 2008 9:28PM
quik, that's either ignorance or bad humor.
Nomi @ Jun 7th 2008 10:31PM
No, its neither, Apples are all plug and play everything aren't they...that "foreign" camera that you can just plug in, remember that mac vs. pc ad.
Back on topic, I am sure drivers exist, or something does since they did make the modbook. Anyone remember that?
Phoenix @ Jun 8th 2008 9:23AM
@Sintax
Wait what? what have you been smoking?
Cal @ Jun 7th 2008 8:41PM
Does it eat wallets?
Good_Bytes @ Jun 7th 2008 9:56PM
nha, but it does eat bank accounts!
SneAKz @ Jun 7th 2008 8:43PM
Finally, a 19 inch panel that got past that dreadful 1440x900 res.
Alex @ Jun 7th 2008 8:45PM
I agree.
quiksilv3r @ Jun 7th 2008 8:49PM
There are a ton of them that do...lol
Yusuf Qedan @ Jun 8th 2008 10:24PM
too bad it couldnt make the jump to a 1920x1200 res for some 1080p action
Alex @ Jun 7th 2008 8:45PM
I admit...
I forgot this company existed.
palehorse @ Jun 7th 2008 9:01PM
This would come down to weight... any ballparks?
Fubar @ Jun 8th 2008 10:43AM
Camden Yards?
ijyt @ Jun 7th 2008 9:03PM
Hmm, if the price is good, I might actually consider buying this to replace my aging monitor.
TomWBrowning @ Jun 7th 2008 9:16PM
Pretty big chin considering it's just a monitor and not an all-in-one.
Niki @ Jun 7th 2008 9:31PM
Dude,
It's a freaking Shuttle.
they don't make anything that's not an all in one...
and to clak:
yeah, you are a horrible person...
disgracing that Apple box with a dell...
how could you?
[I'm not a fanboy. I just hate Dell with a passion]
=]
MeatPop @ Jun 7th 2008 9:39PM
Seriously, it's like the Jay Leno of Monitors.
duckshoot @ Jun 7th 2008 11:48PM
Niki @ Jun 7th 2008 9:31PM
Dude,
It's a freaking Shuttle.
they don't make anything that's not an all in one...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Huh? ... as far as I know, Shuttle doesn't make a single all-in-one (I could be mistaken) ... but it being a Shuttle certainly doesn't mean that it's "all-in-one" (whatever that means) ... I'm assuming we're talking about a large-format UMPC.
In case it isn't clear to everyone at this point ... THIS IS A MONITOR ... THAT'S IT ... sweet monitor, but nothing else
see ... http://us.shuttle.com/News.aspx (which has more detail on this model)
Niki @ Jun 8th 2008 9:15PM
@duckshoot...
sorry, wrong terminology...
Shuttle makes barebones systems.
I assumed this one wouldn't be any different.
My bad. Thanks for the link though.
=]
heyguy @ Jun 7th 2008 9:25PM
What an awful rendering. It looks like they took a plain metal box and photoshopped a Vista desktop screenshot and "Shuttle" onto it.
retrokat911 @ Jun 7th 2008 9:42PM
This looks pretty sweet.
Now if only apple would integrate touchscreens into their iMac...
Or we can just buy this beast and hack OS X on it.
Wiigee @ Jun 7th 2008 10:28PM
hook it up to a mac, its a display.
Caleb @ Jun 8th 2008 11:48PM
Just plug it into a Mac no hacking required. IT"S A MONITOR!!!
Wiigee @ Jun 7th 2008 10:17PM
its a display, not all-in-one. there are no spec for all in one.
thepumpkingdom @ Jun 7th 2008 10:36PM
more and more are coming out for the pc, but vista can't use it, right? don't we have to wait for windows 7 to maybe take advantage of it. And i say maybe because vista was supposed to take care of my problems but it doesn't sitting on my bookcase.
i'm betting on an apple cinema display touchscreen at the wwdc. it's been a long time since that monitor got an update.
DrPepper @ Jun 7th 2008 10:43PM
Looks like the ugly sister of the iMac.
Aww bless, she does her best to get around despite having no leg.
Tim Miller @ Jun 8th 2008 1:19AM
I have a question: Why in the screenshot are they running Windows Vista RC1? Look at the lower corner of the screen.
They went onto google images, got some random Vista image, and photoshoped it on. :-)
