Nintendo Loses $21 million in Lawsuit Over Controllers

According to law firm McKool Smith it has won a jury verdict against Nintendo in the amount of $21 million. The firm represented a Texas-based company called Anascape Ltd against Nintendo of America.

The suit has been in litigation for 2-years with allegations that Nintendo of America had sold several video game controllers that infringed upon patents held by Anascape. The controllers at the heart of the suit included the GameCube controller, GameCube Wavebird controller, Wii Classic controller and the Wii Remote.

"We are extremely pleased with the jury's verdict," says Mr. Cawley, who regularly represents clients in patent claims in the Eastern District of Texas. "Anascape may be a tiny company compared to Nintendo, but today's verdict confirms that the company's technology is second to none."
